Last night the Harry Fairclough Construction team attended the Institute of Highway Engineers Mercia Branch Awards where they were presented with a highly commended award in the ‘Safety and Innovation project of the year’ category for the A54 Buxton Road Safety Fence Improvement project.

The project required the use of specialist engineering skills and materials, in a tough terrain, to install 230 metres of new safety barriers to the side of one of England’s highest roads; the notoriously steep and winding A54 between Buxton and Congleton. The project was completed on time in November 2018 and has previously won the ‘Safety Award’ in the CIHT North West Awards for its excellent practice, design and technical application.
