NEWS RELEASE: TRIATHLON SUCCESS FOR SHANE
03/09/2010
Harry Fairclough employee Shane Hickey went international to take part in his first (and coldest...) triathlon when completing the Valentia Island Triathlon held in Ireland's Co.Kerry on 22 May 2010.
Shane, a site manager in Harry Fairclough's Civil Engineering Division, had to swim 1km in the chilly Atlantic, cycle 20km around the island and finally run 5km, mostly uphill, raising over £700 for the Royal Manchester Eye Hospital.
Looking back on his achievement, Shane commented:
"The Atlantic was freezing and windy and the cycling and running seemed to be forever going uphill! However I found the whole experience exhilarating and am looking forward to more events. The Royal Manchester Eye Hospital has been important to my family and I was only too pleased to give something back. I would also like to thank all my sponsors for their kind support".
