“I joined the Harry Fairclough team as a site manager seven years ago, which was a step up from a previous role as a senior engineer. I learnt the ropes through ‘on the job’ training with my mentors and external training to widen my skillset. I quickly went from being number two on the first project I did, to running all subsequent jobs as number one, ranging from new build schools to ‘listed’ refurbishment work.

I am now an experienced Project Manager working in the company’s build division and my specialist area of expertise is in education buildings. Education projects are never straightforward, but I enjoy the challenge of ensuring that we complete them on time, budget and to specification. I love the fact that I play an important part in providing inspirational learning environments for future generations – from university science labs to primary and high school builds. I have up to three projects running at any one time and I am responsible for the delivery as well as managing the team. As a company, our focus is always on generating repeat business by giving the client a better service than our competitors. Our proactive site teams support the client from start to finish, delivering top quality workmanship and maintaining budget and programme, even when things have to be changed.

Being a part of the Harry Fairclough family is a real plus point for me. I get to work with some highly experienced professionals, gaining valuable experience along the way. We are a close-knit team and new recruits quickly gain access to and learn from some of the very best in the industry.
