“I began as my career as a carpenter/ joiner but quickly moved into SHEQ whilst working for a precast concrete business. From there I became regional health and safety advisor for a number of top ten UK construction businesses. This allowed me to develop a broad range of experience across the civil engineering projects, housebuilding and construction industries and has provided me with a wide range of skills and gives me a diverse level of expertise.
I joined Harry Fairclough because I liked the family business feel and I was excited to take on the role of leader and driver of health and safety for such a well-established and reputable business. The team shares my outlook and values, and it’s always encouraging to see that employees stay with the business for a long time. Senior colleagues are willing to listen to different points of view and are keen to take on new challenges to ensure the business is future focussed and that makes for an exciting dynamic environment.
My role will involve advising colleagues on the best processes and systems for ensuring projects are delivered to a high-quality standard, safely, with a minimal impact on our environment whilst keeping them up to date with industry requirements and best practices. I work closely with project teams from the beginning of the tender process through to the end of construction and see a diverse range of projects and varied scopes of work. In addition to project safety, health environment and quality, I will be working to raise awareness of mental health issues which are prevalent in the Construction industry, implementing positive initiatives across the business in line with our ongoing commitment to support the wellbeing of our team.”Our People
